US Lacrosse names Eastside, Bainbridge, Seattle, Shoreline seniors to All-Academic Team

SEATTLE – Nine prep seniors from the Eastside, Bainbridge, Seattle and Shoreline have been named by US Lacrosse to its 2016 high school All-Academic Team.

compete-with-class-transAmong the academic high-achievers from Washington state high school lacrosse programs are four with a perfect 4.0 GPA including Bellevue High School LSM Jack Albrecht, Eastlake High LSM Carter Heck and defenseman Kyle Evers and Sammamish High School defenseman Connor Krill.

Albrecht is a three-year varsity player and captain of the 2015 and 2016 Wolverines squads, earning All-KingCo Second Team honors as a senior. Albrecht also played varsity tennis for the Wolverines as a junior and served as Editor-In-Chief of the Bellevue High School Yearbook from 2013-16.

Heck captained and started for the Eastlake varsity all four years earning All-KingCo First Team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. On campus he served as an Eastlake High School Ambassador and contributed over 90 hours of community service.

Evers played on the Eastlake varsity all four years, captaining the Wolves as a junior and senior. On campus he was named president of the school’s National Honor Society, Technology Student Association and served in leadership roles with the Athletic Leadership Council, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta math honorary and Key Club.

Other All-Academic honorees include Mercer Island defender Benjamin Berejka and midfielder Jonny Osman. Berejka completed his high school career with a 3.819 GPA, while Osman finished with a 3.973 GPA.

Berejka, a three-year varsity starter for the Islanders and team captain as a senior where he was featured by KING5 Sports (NBC) on the King5 Prep Zone. Berejka has committed to play NCAA Div. III lacrosse at Kenyon College. In the community Berejka received the Rotary Club of Mercer Island Youth Merit Award for May 2016, was a member of the MI Community Coalition’s Healthy Youth Initiative and was a founder of the Mercer Island S.A.F.E Club.

Osman played for the Islanders varsity as a junior and senior where he earned the team’s Coaches Award each season and was the Islanders Scholar Athlete of the Year as a junior. In the community he served in a leadership role with the Mercer Island Youth & Family Services VOICE Program and participated in several community programs fighting hunger and serving homeless populations.

Rounding-out the list Bainbridge High attackman Nate Marx earned a 3.943 GPA while Seattle Prep midfielder Joe Chamberlin earned a 3.994 GPA and Shorecrest midfielder Briggan Weaver earned a 3.470 GPA.

Marx is a four-year varsity player and senior captain of the Spartans. His on campus leadership includes leadership roles with his high school chapter of the National Honor Society and the Bainbridge Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council.

Chamberlin is a four-year player for Seattle Prep where he began his Panthers career as the only freshman to make the varsity lacrosse team and later was named team captain as a junior. On campus he serves in the school’s Peer Mentoring program, is a campus Eucharistic minister and member of the National Honor Society.

Weaver is a four-year captain and varsity starter and was named to All-Wesco First Team honors as a sophomore, junior and senior. Off the field Weaver has contributed over 90 hours of community service and served as a Shorecrest School Ambassador.
