2016 Washington boys high school lacrosse All-Conference teams named

SEATTLE –The Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association today announced the 2016 All-Conference teams for boys varsity high school lacrosse.

whsbla_lg-240x240One-hundred-eighty student-athletes from 67 schools across the state were named All-Conference including prep teams from the Eastside, South Sound, East Pierce, West Sound, North Sound, Seattle and Eastern Washington along with Whatcom County and Southwest Washington high schools.

The Eastside tops all regions in the state with 57 All-Conference selections representing 18 high schools, while the South Sound has 28 selections from eight high schools and the West Sound has 20 from five high schools.

The Seattle area has 18 selections representing eight schools, the North Sound has 16 selections from eight schools. Spokane has 10 selections from six schools, while East Pierce county also has 10 selections from four schools. The Tri Cities and Wenatchee in Central Washington have nine selections from five schools, while Whatcom County has seven selections from three schools. The Vancouver, Wash. area has five selections from two schools.

A total of 62 student-athletes made the list for the second consecutive year. Among them is

Four-time Narrows/Olympic Conference honoree Joe Hawley of the Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale.

Garrett Sorenson, a three-time selection from Squalicum High School playing for the Sehome-Bellingham squad was the only student-athlete earning two selections on the list. He was named Wesco/NW All-Conference at the Faceoff Specialist and Long-Stick Midfield positions.

Freshmen Stu Vassau of Mercer Island High School, BJ Bisquera of Seton Catholic High School (plays for Columbia River) and Tyler Ruch of Sumner High School were also honored for the first time.

In total, 98 seniors, 53 juniors, 25 sophomores and three freshmen were named to the 2016 Washington State Boys All-Conference lacrosse teams.

The All-Conference selections are made by coaches from each of the varsity boys teams in Washington state.
