US Lacrosse Coaching Education Clinics coming to West Sound Jan. 25 & 26

POULSBO, Wash. —  Are you an aspiring youth lacrosse coach in Washington state or are interested honing your coaching skills for the upcoming spring season?  Here’s your chance! US Lacrosse certified coaching clinics are coming to the West Sound in late January.

clinic_boysConducted by US Lacrosse certified instructors, men’s and women’s Level 1 and Level 2 clinics will take place Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo.

US Lacrosse encourages all coaches to participate in some or all components of the Coaching Education Program, and encourages leagues and clubs to also utilize the Coaching Education Program for their coaching education needs. It is our vision that all lacrosse teams are coached by US Lacrosse-certified coaches for the benefit and quality of our sport.

 

 

The US Lacrosse Coaching Education Program is built upon:

Men’s & Women’s Level 1 Coaching Clinics

Date:  Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014

Time:  9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Location: North Kitsap High School (1780 NE Hostmark St., Poulsbo, WA  98370)

Cost:  $70 in advance (includes materials)

The Men’s and Women’s Level 1 clinics on Saturday, Jan. 25 at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo are for new coaches or coaches that have not yet participated in Level 1 training.

The clinics are designed to introduce coaches to the responsibilities and philosophies of coaching and how to provide a safe and athlete-centered environment that emphasizes positive growth and sportsmanship. The Level 1 curriculum provides the tools to teach rules, basic individual skills, and basic team concepts to beginning players of all ages. This baseline training is relevant for all lacrosse coaches, regardless of experience.

Date:  Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014

Time:  9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Men’s and Women’s Level 2 clinics on Sunday, Jan. 26 at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo are tactically and practically focused and ideally suited for coaches working with upper level players.

Coaches receive detailed instruction on building the tactical elements of their team based on overarching principles for offense, defense and transition. The Level 2 curriculum is geared toward coaching players who have an understanding of the basic skills and objectives of the game. Coaches will also learn how practice planning fits into overall tactical objectives for their season.
