tlnTonight’s Washington Lacrosse Girls State Championship Game between Lake Sammamish and the Lakeside School will be streamed live on The Lacrosse Network.

The girls varsity game gets underway at 7:30 p.m. PDT, Friday, May 17 from Mercer Island High School.  It is the 11th of a 13-game prep schedule in Washington state to be streamed live on YouTube via The Lacrosse Network.

The State Championship Game features a matchup of one of the state’s most recent success stories, Lake Sammamish Lacrosse Club and perennial state power The Lakeside School.

Lake Sammamish, which draws Eastside student-athletes from Lake Washington, Eastlake, Juanita, Redmond, Bothell, Inglemoor and Woodinville High Schools along with the International School, is the new kid on the block beginning lacrosse play in just 2004.  Led by third-year coach and 2013 Girls Coach of the Year Tony D’Alessio, the club finished the regular season 14-2-0 losing only to Bainbridge High School and Oregon’s West Linn High School.  In the post-season, last year’s state runner-up went on to down Overlake and Puyallup in the early playoff rounds before knocking Bainbridge out of its first state championship game in the last decade to earn a berth in Friday night’s final.

The Lakeside School, one of the inaugural girls lacrosse programs in the state of Washington and 11-time state champion, finished its season 14-1-0.  The Lions only loss coming in an 8-7 road defeat on April 1 at the hands of Lake Sammamish.   In the post-season, coach Jamie Asaka’s Lions dispatched Issaquah, Snohomish and finally Mercer Island to earn a berth in their 15th state championship games since 1987.

Veteran lacrosse broadcaster Scott Ohsman will handle the play-by-play with Emily Durban at his side as the color analyst.
