Boys prep lacrosse state tournament underway Friday

SEATTLE – The road to the Washington Lacrosse State Championships gets underway for high school boys on Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 with the opening round of Division II post-season playoff action. Boys Division I post-season action gets underway Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16.

Boys Division II
Boys Division II playoff teams are selected based on league record. The top three teams in the Olympic, Cascade and Metro –North and Metro – South Conferences and the top two teams in the Evergreen and Skagit Conferences earn post-season berths.

Opening round competition takes place, Friday, May 11 and Saturday, May 12 with winners facing off in quarterfinal action Friday, May 18. Semifinals take place on Wednesday, May 23 with the state championship contested on Saturday, May 26.

On Friday, Nathan Hale (1st in Metro – North) and Providence (3rd in Cascade) square-off in a 5:45 p.m. start at Summit Fields #2 in Seattle, while Snohomish (1st in Cascade) plays Roosevelt (2nd in Metro –North) in a 7 p.m. start at Lake Stevens High School in Lake Stevens . Seattle Prep (1st in Metro – South) takes-on North Kitsap (3rd in Olympic) in a 7:15 p.m. start at Lower Woodland #7 in Seattle. Everett (2nd in Cascade) plays Whatcom (1s in Skagit) at Walter Hall Park in Everett. The time for the Everett, Whatcom game has not yet been determined.

On Saturday, San Juan (2nd in Skagit) and Klahowya (2nd in Olympic) square-off in a 12 noon start at Friday Harbor High School in Friday Harbor, while Overlake (1s in Evergreen) takes-on Ballard 3rd in Metro – North) in a 1 p.m. start at the Overlake School in Redmond. Gig Harbor (1st in Olympic) plays Garfield (3rd in Metro – South) in a 7 p.m. start at Peninsula High School in Gig Harbor and Mt. Si (2nd in Evergreen) takes-on Three Rivers (2nd in Metro – South) in a 7 p.m. start at Mt. Si High School in Snoqualmie.

Boys Division I
In Boys Division I, teams are selected for post season play based on individual record in league play. The top six teams in each of the Northeast and Southwest Conferences earn post season berths.

Opening round action gets underway Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16. Quarterfinal action takes place Friday, May 18 and Saturday, May 19, while semifinals are on Wednesday, May 23. The state championship is contested on Saturday, May 26.
