Oregon’s Sunset downs Skyline at NW Invitational lacrosse tourney
MERCER ISLAND – Curtis Eschman scored 4 goals and added 3 assists as Sunset Lacrosse Club of Portland downed Skyline 18 – 10 at the NW Invitational lacrosse tournament, Saturday on Mercer Island. Ryan Benz and Max Saffle each scored 3 goals and Cory Larson had 18 saves in goal for Skyline in the loss.

In other NW invitational action on Saturday Claremont (BC) downed Centennial (Nev.) 17-11, Palo Verde (Nev.) downed Timberline (Ore.) 8 – 3 and New Westminster (BC) downed Oregon Episcopal 8 – 4. In afternoon action, Bainbridge downed Claremont (BC) 9 – 5, Mercer Island downed Sunset (Ore.) 15 – 7, Lakeridge (Ore.) downed Timberline (Ore.) 11 – 3, and Centennial (Nev.) downed Issaquah 11 – 10 in OT.

The tournament concludes on Sunday as Centennial (Nev.) faces Timberline (Ore.) MERCER ISLAND – Kevin Powers and Matt O’Neill each scored 3 goals for Issaquah as the Eagles fell to Centennial of Nevada 11 – 10 in overtime, Saturday at the NW Invitational high school lacrosse tournament at Mercer Island High School. Ben Director and Michael Hatcher each contributed 2 goals for Issaquah.

Colton Knebel delivered 4 points in the win, but his 10 ground balls help dish up the high productive Islander offense. Tucker Vassau had 14 saves in goal for the Islanders.

Bellevue hangs on against Lincoln at NW Invitational lacrosse tourney
BELLEVUE – Hank Bethke scored 2 goals to lead Bellevue past Lincoln of Oregon 8 – 7 in NW Invitational lacrosse action, Saturday at Bellevue High School. Bellevue jumped out to a 3 – 0 lead by the end of the first quarter and took a 5 – 0 advantage into the intermission. In the third the two squads traded goals. In the fourth, Lincoln netted four unanswered goals but fell just a goal short as the Wolverines hung on for the win.

Overlake downs Lake Washington in boy lacrosse
REDMOND – Barrett Jenness scored 4 goals and Colton Umberger netted 3 as Overlake downed Lake Washington 11 – 7 in boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Saturday at the Overlake School in Redmond. Nick Evens had 6 save in goal for the Owls. The win advanced Overlake to 2-3-0 overall. Lake Washington’s Jake Bernstein netted 3 goals and Jonha Friedl had 9 saves for the now 2-4-0 Kangs. Overlake next sees action in an 8 p.m. start, Tuesday, March 29 at Issaquah. Lake Washington next travels to Puyallup on Wednesday, April 6 for a 7:30 p.m. start at Sumner High School.

Blanchet downs Lakeside 18 – 3 in boys lacrosse

SEATTLE – Tyler Schmutz led all scorers with 5 goals and an assist as Bishop Blanchet delivered 18 goals to down Lakeside 18 – 3 in boys high school lacrosse action, Saturday at the Lakeside School in north Seattle. The Division II Braves also saw offensive production from Adam Derr with 3 goals and Taylor Bissett, Aiden Danford and Connor Black who all netted 2 goals. Connor Haney netted 2 goals and Peter Scott had 5 saves for Lakeside. Blanchet next takes on Garfield, Wednesday, March 30 in a 5 p.m. start at Seattle’s Genesee Park playfield. Lakeside (0-5-0) next sees action at 5 p.m., Tuesday, March 29 as Tahoma visits the Lions at home.

Beall’s 7 goals lead King’s Way past Lake Tapps in boys lacrosse
VANCOUVER, Wash. – Jack Beall scored 7 goals and added 3 assists as King’s Way rolled past Lake Tapps 18 – 6 in boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Saturday at Columbia River High School in Vancouver. The win was the fourth of the season for the undefeated Knights. King’s Way jumped out to a 6 – 3 lead at the end of the first and added another 6 goals to take a 12 – 4 lead into the intermission. They added another 5 goals in the third and 1 in the fourth to close out scoring. King’s Way (4-0-0) next travels to Oregon’s Willsonville for a non-league game on Tuesday, March 29. Lake Tapps (1-3-0) next faces Tacoma at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29 at Bonney Lake High School.

Eastside Catholic blanks Mt. Si, 21 – 0 in boys lacrosse
SAMMAMISH – Freshman Ross Komenda netted a season high 6 goals to drive Eastside Catholic’s offense in a 21 – 0 high school lacrosse win over Division II Mt. Si, Saturday at Charley Acosta Field on the campus of the Eastside Catholic School in Sammamish. Kyle Decker added 3 goals and was among 10 Crusaders involved in the goal haul. Eastside Catholic (3-1-0) next meets Northshore, Tuesday, March 29 in a 7:30 p.m. home start. Mt. Si (1-4-0) next faces Liberty on Thursday, March 31 in a 5:15 p.m. start at Maywood Middle School.

FRIDAY HARBOR – Colter Clinch netted 4 goals as Woodinville cruised to a 17 – 3 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over San Juan, Saturday at Friday Harbor High School. Nathan Paris added 3 goals and 6 ground balls and Dalton Combs stopped 5 shots in goal in the win. Dylan Radden, Sean Hills and Kyle Hills all scored for the Dragons. Woodinville (3-1-0) next faces Everett, Wednesday, March 30 in a 7 p.m. start at Woodinville High School. San Juan (0-4-0) next faces North County on Wednesday, March 30 in a 5 p.m. start at Bender Fields.

WENATCHEE – Mitchell Parks netted 4 goals and delivered 4 assists to lead Wenatchee to an 11 – 9 boys Division II high school lacrosse defeat of Garfield, Saturday at Wenatchee Valley College. Parks and Connor Christensen to help set the table for the Wenatchee offense with a combined 14 ground balls. Thomas Bass had 14 saves in goal for Wenatchee. Wenatchee (3-1-0) next faces Three Rivers on Wednesday, March 30 in a 4:15 p.m. start at Wenatchee Valley College. Garfield (2-2-0) next faces Blancet on Wednesday, March 30 in a 5:00 p.m. start at Seattle’s Genesee Park.

Sammamish lacrosse 5-0 in win over Port Angeles
PORT ANGELES – Tyvan Schmidt scored 5 goals Sammamish advanced to 5-0 with a 17 – 2 boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Port Angeles, Saturday at Storm King Soccer Fields. Brian Headland netted 3 goals and Mitch Williams had 5 saves in goal for Sammamish. Five games into the season, Sammamish has scored 82 goals while allowing just 11. Sammamish (5-0-0) next takes on Liberty, Tuesday, March 29 in a 7 p.m. start at Interlake High School. PA (1-2-0) next faces Klahowya on Wednesday, April 13 in a 5 p.m. start at Storm King Soccer Fields.

Kevin Ault stopped 22 shots in the nets for the Roughriders. Royce Moriarty netted 3 goals for Selah and Jared Grubenhoff had 10 saves in goal. Roosevelt (1-4-0) next faces Franklin, on Wednesday, March 30 in a 7 p.m. start at Seattle’s Lower Woodland Park. Kennedy nets first win in 13 – 3 lax win over Evergreen
VANCOUVER, Wash. — Stephanie Moffat scored four goals while Brianna Goodwin added three goals and two assists to lead Kennedy past the Evergreen, 13-3 for its first win of the season, Saturday at McKenzie Stadium in Vancouver. The Lancers scored 20 seconds into the contest, and took a 4-0 lead after the first five minutes of play. Kennedy shut Evergreen out in the first half, with Lancer goalie Jessika Lackie registering six saves in the contest. Sara Ornelas scored twice in the second half for Evergreen, while goalie Dawn Lumen made seven saves after taking over in the nets at halftime. Both teams return to action Tuesday; Kennedy (2-1-1) entertains Mercer Island, while Evergreen (0-3) travels to Forest Ridge.

Snohomish jumped out to an 11 – 4 halftime lead before cruising to their 5th win of the season. Taylor Christensen netted 5 goals and 5 ground balls, while Katie Kottkamp had 9 saves in goal for Wenatchee. Snohomish (5-3-1) next faces Ballard in a 5:15 p.m. start on Wednesday, March 30 at Harvey Air Field.
