Boys Division I

Skyline boys down Overlake in OT

SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Max Saffle scored 3 goals and Dan Seil had 9 saves in goals as Skyline played to an Overlake 11 – 10 overtime win against Overlake in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Saturday at Skyline High School. The two rivals are locked in a dead-heat for fourth place in the Northeast Conference with 8-4-0 conference records. Skyline has a 9-7-0 overall record and Overlake has an 8-5-0 overall record.

SCORING HIGHLIGHTS: Skyline 11, Overlake 10 (OT) (Max Saffle, S, 3 goals, 2 assists, 1 ground ball; Dan Seil, S, 9 saves)

Puyallup upsets King’s Way in boys lacrosse

PUYALLUP, Wash. – Jeff Tungsvik scored season-high 6 goals and an assist as Puyallup upset Southwest Conference leader King’s Way 13 – 11 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Saturday at Sparks Stadium. Goaltender Zach Steedman contributed 15 saves and a rare goal to help Puyallup to its 7th win of the season. Brock Beall had 4 goals and an assist and Max Zandstra had 12 saves as King’s Way dropped just its 3rd contest of the season, but maintained first place in the Southwest Conference.

Tahoma gets lacrosse win over Lake Tapps

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. – Josh Horne and Brody Lundquist each scored 5 goals as Tahoma snapped a 5-game losing skid with an 18 – 8 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over rival Lake Tapps, Saturday at Tahoma High School. With the win, Tahoma advanced to 3-12-0 on the season. Josh Devenport and Matt Nordie each had 2 goals and Brandon Sims had 17 saves in goal for Lake Tapps. With the loss, Lake Tapps is winless in its 12 games this season.

Lake Washington boys drop Klahowya in lacrosse

SILVERDALE, Wash. – Ben Anderson scored 4 goals and Jake Bernstein had 11 ground balls to lead Lake Washington to a 13 – 4 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Klahowya, Saturday at Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale. The win elevated Evergreen Conference leader Lake Washington to a 14-2-0 record. Kevin Bastein and Nick Johanson each had a goal and an assist and Nehemiah Salo had 9 saves in goal for Klahowya. The loss was just the fourth of the year for Olympic Conference leader Klahowya.

Redmond downs North Kitsap lax for third win in a row

POULSBO, Wash. – Jacob Kappes and Joseph Mernaugh each had 3 goals to lead Redmond to it third win in a row with a 13 – 1 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over North Kitsap, Saturday at North Kitsap High School in Poulsbo. Brandon Larson had the lone goal for North Kitsap. The loss was the fourth in a row for 3-12-0 North Kitsap.

Sammamish doubles-up South Kitsap in boys lacrosse

PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – Sammamish gained their 12th win of the season with a 16 – 8 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over South Kitsap, Saturday at South Kitsap High School in Port Orchard. With the win, Sammamish advanced to 12-2-0 on the season for second-place in the Evergreen Conference, while South Kitsap slipped to 3-10-0 in the Olympic Conference.

SCORING HIGHLIGHTS: Sammamish 16, South Kitsap 8 (David Gibson, SK, 4 goals, 2 ground balls; Ben Landry, SK, 20 saves)

PA rolls over Mt. Si in boys lacrosse

PORT ANGELES, Wash. – Jacob Dostie scored 5 goals and collected 9 ground balls as Port Angeles got its 8th win of the season with a 13 – 1 defeat of Mt. Si, Saturday at the Storm King Soccer Fields in Port Angeles. Jullian Wall had 11 saves in goal for PA, which advanced to 8-5-0 for second-place in the Olympic Conference. Matt Mahrer scored the lone goal for Mt. Si. Mt. Si is winless in its 13 games this season.

San Juan drops North County for 5th straight lacrosse win

FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. – Kyle Skoog scored 4 goals and Ryan Guard had 3 goals and 3 assists as San Juan played to its 5th straight win with a 15 – 4 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over North County, Saturday at Friday Harbor High School. The win elevated San Juan to 11-2-0 overall for first place in the Skagit Conference. Eric Conner, Marcus Fakkema, Devin Conner and Coty Graam each scored for North County, which dropped to 2-13-0 on the season.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
