Boys Division I

Northshore boys pound Prep lacrosse
SEATTLE – Jake Dossett scored 5 goals and an assist as Northshore pounded Seattle Prep 12 – 4 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Wednesday at Seattle’s Summit Fields. Charlie Peterson had 6 saves in goal for Snohomish, which is now 9-4-0. Jack Maurer had 11 saves in goal as Prep dropped to 3-10-0.

Mukilteo downs Lake Tapps in boys lacrosse

BONNEY LAKE, Wash. – John Linari scored 3 goals as Mukilteo downed Lake Tapps 9 – 2 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Wednesday at Bonney Lake High School. With the win, Mukilteo advanced to 7-9-0. Jeremiah Davenport and Matthiew Nordlie both scored for Lake Tapps in the loss. Lake Tapps dropped to 0-11-0.

Overlake lax downs Tahoma for third straight
COVINGTON, Wash. – Devon Schmidt scored 7 goals and Chap Grubb had 17 saves as Overlake downed Tahoma 11 – 4 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse, Wednesday at Tahoma High School. The win was the third straight for 8-4-0 Overlake. Brody Lundquist had 2 goals and 9 ground balls as Tahoma dropped their fifth straight.

Issaquah rolls past Vashon for 7th straight lacrosse win
VASHON ISLAND, Wash. – Issaquah won its seventh in a row with a 14 – 1 defeat of Vashon, Wednesday at Vashon High School. The win lifted the Eagles to 14-3-0. Vashon dropped to 1-10-0.

Blanchet lax downs Franklin for 4th straight win
SEATTLE – Tyler Schmutz and Zane Zielke each scored 3 goals to lift Blanchet to its fourth straight win with a 14 – 2 Boys Division II high school lacrosse defeat of Franklin, Wednesday at Franklin High School. The win lifted the Braves to 10-2-0 while Franklin slipped to 1-12-0. Arthur Villagran and Alexandrew Wong each netted a pair for the Quakers in the loss.

Wenatchee lax downs Selah for 11th straight win
WENATCHEE, Wash. – Mitchell Parks scored 5 goals to lead Eastern Conference leader Wenatchee Valley Lacrosse to its 11th straight Boys Division II high school lacrosse win with a 13 – 4 defeat of rival Selah, Wednesday at Wenatchee Valley College. The win lifted Wenatchee to 12 -1-0, while Selah dropped to 2-10-0. Corrie Friedrich had 3 goals and 3 ground balls in the loss for Selah.

Lake Washington drops Sammamish in boys lacrosse
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Jake Bernstein scored 4 goals and 2 assists to lift Lake Washington to a 2 game lead in the Evergreen Conference with a 10 – 6 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win, Wednesday at Interlake High School. Luke Lattin had 13 saves in goal as Lake Washingotn advanced to 12-2-0 on the season. Sammamish fell 2 games back in second with just its second loss of the season.

South edges North in Kitsap lacrosse battle
POULSBO, Wash. – TJ Pulkrebeck scored 5 goals and grabbed 15 ground balls to lead South Kitsap to a 10 – 9 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over rival North Kitsap, Wednesday at North Kitsap High School. The win broke a 4-game losing skid for South Kitsap, which advanced to 3-8-0. Jake Icard scored 4 goals and had 9 ground balls, while Chaz Zacharof had 12 saves for North Kitsap. North slid to 3-9-0 with the loss.

Bainbridge D1 girls down Forest Ridge for 12th straight lax win
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. – Sydney Whitaker scored 6 goals and Helen Sheffer had 5 as Bainbridge Island netted its 12th straight Girls Division I high school lacrosse win with a 19 – 4 defeat of Forest Ridge, Wednesday and Bainbridge Stadium. The win elevated the lady Spartans to 12-1-0 on the season. Forest Ridge lost its 7th straight, dropping to 2-10-0.

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. – Tyler Sherper and Signe Quitslund each scored 4 goals to lead Bainbridge Island to a 17 – 7 Girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Graham-Kapowsin, Wednesday at Bainbridge Stadium. The win lifted the Spartans to 5-6-0 on the season. Alex Teague had 3 goals for 1-10-0 Graham-Kapowsin.

Issaquah remains perfect in 23-1 win over North Kitsap
POULSBO, Wash. – Katie Mincin scored 5 goals and had 5 assists to lead Issaquah to a 23 – 1 Girls Division II high school lacrosse win over North Kitsap, Wednesday at North Kitsap High School. The win kept the Eagles’ perfect record intact at 10-0-0. Victoria Thomas scored the lone goal and Val Kranich had 13 saves as North Kitsap fell for the fifth consecutive time. North is 1-9-0 on the season.

Eastside Catholic drops Bellevue East in girls lax
BELLEVUE, Wash. – Alex Foreman scored 7 goals and an assist to lead Eastside Catholic to its fifth straight win with a 22 – 18 Girls Division II high school lacrosse defeat of Bellevue East, Wednesday at Robinswood Park in Bellevue. Lauren Breynaert and Allison Talbot each contributed 5 goals in the win as the Crusaders advanced to 9-2-0. Allie Wilson had 6 goals and Kayla Miller had 4 for 5-6-0 Bellevue East. Bellevue East has lost two straight.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
