Bellevue boys win 5th straight in lacrosse to command first place
SEATTLE – Cole Nordstrom scored 4 goals and an assist as Bellevue dropped Lakeside 15 – 8 to win its fifth straight in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Friday at the Lakeside School. With the win, the Lions maintained pace with undefeated Mercer Island for first place in Division I play. Blake Samuel contributed to the win with 3 goals. Lakeside’s sten Jernudd had 4 goals and Nick Canino had 8 saves as the Lions slipped to an even 5-5-0.

Overlake drops Eastlake in boys lacrosse
REDMOND, Wash. – The Overlake School extended its Boys Division I high school lacrosse record to 7-4-0 with a 7 – 6 win over visiting Eastlake, Friday at The Overlake School. Eastlake dropped to 4-7-0 with the loss.

Stadium slips past Prep in boys lacrosse
TACOMA, Wash. – Martin Park scored 3 goals and 2 assists as Stadium slipped pat Seattle Prep 8 – 7 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse action, Friday at Tacoma’s Mason Middle School. Park also was stellar in defense, collecting 9 ground balls as the Stadium got its third win of the season. Cassidy Miller had 3 goals and 2 assists for Seattle Prep as the Panthers slipped to 2-8-0.

First place Issaquah downs Northshore for 6th straight win
KENMORE, Wash. – Todd Jones and Matt O’Neil each scored 4 goals as first-place Issaquah got its sixth straight win with a 16 – 6 Boys Division I high school lacrosse defeat of Northshore, Friday at Inglemoor High School. With the win, the Eagles advanced to 13-3-0 (9-1-0 in league play) and are just a game back of league leading Mercer Island and Bellevue. Defensively, Kevin Powers added 10 ground balls to his 2 goal, 2 assist performance. Northshore’s Taylor Wisman had 3 goals and an assist and Charlie Peterson had 8 saves. Northshore slipped to 8-4-0.

MAPLE VALLEY, Wash. – Cameron Parker and Jordan Wagner each scored 3 goals to lead Bainbridge Island to a 12 – 8 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Tahoma, Friday at Tahoma High School. The win evened the fourth-place Spartans record at 8-8-0. Josh Horne had 4 goals and Justin Hanson had 20 saves in goal for Tahoma, which dropped to 2-11-0.

Mukilteo boys drop Eastside Catholic in lax
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Mukilteo got its sixth win of the season with a 14 – 8 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Eastside Catholic, Friday at Charlie Acosta Field on the campus of Eastside Catholic High School. The win lifted Mukilteo to 6-9-0 on the season, while the Crusaders dropped to 3-11-0.

Third-place Garfield drops Franklin in lacrosse
SEATTLE – Carl Barnes and Sage Vogt each scored 4 goals to lead Garfield to a 16 – 1 Boys Division II high school win, Friday at Franklin High School The win elevated third place Garfield to 7-4-0 overall. Franklin’s Jacob Chin scored the 1-7-0 Quakers’ lone goal.

First pace Blanchet gains a game on Roosevelt with lax win
SEATTLE – Connor Black and Jonathan Lee each scored a pair of goals as Blanchet gained a full game lead on Metro Conference rival Roosevelt as the Braves beat the Roughriders 6 – 5 in Boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Friday at Lower Woodland Park. Will Massart had 14 saves as Blanchet advanced to 9-2-0. Michael Bennett scored 2 goals and Kevin Ault had 19 saves for Roosevelt as the Roughriders dropped to 2nd with an 8-5-0 record.

Sammamish downs North County lacrosse in Lynden
LYNDEN, Wash. – Sammamish maintained pace with first place Lake Washington in a 6 – 3 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over North County, Friday in Lynden. With the win, 11 – 1 Sammamish remained a game behind Lake Washington in the Evergreen Conference. North County slipped to 2-9-0 in the Skagit Conference.

Lynwood drops Silver Lake 17 – 2 in boys lacrosse
EVERETT, Wash. – Lynwood kept pace with first place Snohomish in the Cascade Conference with a 17 – 2 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Silver Lake, Saturday at Everett’s Cascade High School. The win elevated Lynwood to 10-3-0, just one game back of the Panthers who also won on Saturday. Silver Lake is winless in its 10 starts this season.

Lake Washington controls South Kitsap in boys lacrosse
REDMOND, Wash. — Tyler Watkins scored 3 goals and 2 assists to lead Lake Washington to an 18 – 3 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over South Kitsap, Saturday at Redmond’s Marymoor Park. A total of 14 Lake Washington players scored, while Juno Turkel had 6 saves in goal as the Evergreen Conference leaders advanced to 11-2-0. TJ Pulkrabek, scored 2 goals and Ben Landry had 10 saves as South Kitsap dropped to 2-8-0.

WENATCHEE, Wash. – Rawley Holmberg scored 5 goals and Thomas Bass had 5 saves in goal as Wenatchee won its ninth straight with a 13 – 4 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Nathan Hale, Friday at Wenatchee Valley College. The win advanced the Eastern Conference leaders to 10-1-0 on the season. Alex Wright scored 2 goals as Hale slipped to 6-7-0 in the Metro Conference.

The win was buttressed by 17 combined ground balls by Joey Bockman and Justin Ellis. With the win, Klahowya advanced to 9-2-0 for first place in the Olympic Conference. Forrest Hurly scored the lone goal for Liberty, which dropped to 2-10-0 with the loss.

WOODINVILLE, Wash. – Ryan McAlister scored 5 goals and Nick Hund netted 4 to lift first-place Snohomish to a 12 – 4 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Woodinville, Saturday at Woodinville High School. Loren Danielson had 15 saves for Snohomish in the win. Tyler Paris had 2 goals and Dalton Combs had 17 saves in goal for Woodinville. With the loss, Woodinville dropped to 5-9-0 on the season.

The in lifted Snohomish to 10-2-0 for a dead heat with Bainbridge in second place. Malena Harang and Kelly Brennan each scored for Forest Ridge.

SEATTLE – Sydney Whitaker scored 6 goals and Jaclyn Biggers netted 5 as Bainbridge won its 10th straight with a 20 – 4 Girls Division I high school lacrosse win over Holy Names, Friday at Magnuson Park. The win lifted the Spartans to 10-1-0 on the season. Monique Villanueva, Rayna Stackhouse, Mera Stackhouse and Molly Delay all scored for Holy Names.

With the win, the Beavers continued to hand on to the 9th and final playoff spot in Division II play. Hannah Breton had 17 saves in the win. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
