SEATTLE – Devon Schmidt scored 9 goals as Overlake dropped Lakeside 15 -10 in Boys Division I high school lacrosse, Wednesday at the Lakeside School in North Seattle. Overlake goaltender Chap Grubb turned-away 14 shots as the Owls advanced to 6-4-0. Lakeside’s Sam Ballmer and David Jaimeson each connected for 3 goals and Nick Canino had 13 saves as the Lions slipped to 5-4-0.

BOTHELL, Wash. — Alex Bus scored 6 goals to lead Northshore to a 20 – 7 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Eastside Catholic, Wednesday at Bothell High School. The win lifted Northshore to 8-3-0 on the season. Kyle Decker led all Eastside Catholic scorers with 3 goals and an assist and goaltender Brandon Veyette had 16 saves as the Crusaders dropped to 3-10-0.

Issaquah drops Eastlake for 5th straight win in boys lacrosse
ISSAQUAH, Wash. – Kevin Powers and Even Greenhall each contributed 3 goals as Issaquah won its fifth straight to inch closer to the Northeast Conference lead with a 11 – 3 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Eastlake, Wednesday at Issaquah High School. Issaquah advanced to 13 – 3, just a game behind the first place tie between Mercer Island and Bellevue. Tanner Clinch, Patrick Keogh and Cooper Rosenthal all scored for Eastlake, which slipped to 4-6-0.

Puyallup rolls over Stadium in boys lacrosse
SUMNER, Wash.—Jeff Tungsvik scored 5 goals and Keil Morris had 4 as Puyallup rolled to a 16 – 4 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Stadium, Wednesday at Sumner High School. With Puyallup leading late in the game, goaltender Zach Steedman stopped a Stadium shot and ran coast-to-coast, ducking two defenders before beating Stadium goaltender Drew Thomas for the game’s final goal. Steedman had 16 saves and his first goal of the season as Puyallup advanced to 6-4-0. Bryce Busey had 2 goals and Thomas had 8 saves for 2-7-0 Stadium.

SEATTLE – Reid Kenney scored 4 goals as Garfield upset Roosevelt 9 – 8 to move closer to the Metro Conference lead in Boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Wednesday at Genesee Park in south Seattle. With the win the 6-4-0 Bulldogs closed to within 2 games of the Roughriders who are tied with Blanchet for the Metro Conference lead. Danny Strick had 12 saves in goal for Garield. Michael Bennett had 3 goal and Kevin Ault had 9 saves for Roosevelt which slipped to 8-4-0.

SILVERDALE, Wash. – Nick Johanson, Caleb Hiller and Jeff Haga each scored 2 goals as Klahowya dropped Port Angeles 11 – 6 in Boys Division II high school lacrosse action, Wednesday at Klahowya Secondary School in Silverdale. The win was the fifth straight for Klahowya which advanced to 8-2-0. Albert Barnier and Jacob Dostie each scored 2 and goaltender Julian Walls had 19 saves as PA slipped to 6-5-0.

Hale boys blank Franklin in lacrosse
SEATTLE – Jack MacIntire scored 10 goals and Joey Chernick had 10 ground balls to lead Nathan Hale to a 12 – 0 shutout of Franklin High School, Wednesday at Summit Fields in Seattle. The win evened Hale’s record at 6-6-0. Michael Ingles had 10 saves in goal for Franklin as the Quakers dropped to 1-10-0 in Metro Conference play.

BELLEVUE, Wash. – Four Sammamish players combined for goals to lift Sammamish to a 4 – 2 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Redmond, Wednesday, as Sammamish pulled evened with Lake Washington for the Evergreen Conference lead at Interlake High School. Andrew Wenzl, Tyler Wright, Brian Headland and Alex Cornell each scored for Sammamish, which is now 10-1-0 on the season. Brad Bomberry and Tanner Champagne scored for Redmond, which evened its record at 5-5-0.

The win elevated Woodinville to 4-8-0. Merrick Rutledge had 8 saves for Silver Lake, which is winless in 8 starts this season.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
