Boys Division I

Puyallup gets fourth win in boys lax defeat of Tacoma
PUYALLUP, Wash. – Sophomore Robert Abbot and senior Kiel Morris each scored 3 goals to lead Puyallup to its fourth win of the season in a 13 – 5 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Tacoma, Saturday at Sparks Stadium. Zach Steedman had 16 saves in goal as Puyallup advanced to 4-2-0 on the season. Jacob Bolek led Tacoma scorers with 2 goals. Tacoma dropped to 2-6-0.

King’s Way downs Eastlake for third straight lax win
VANCOUVER, Wash. — Junior Zach Lindahl scored 3 goals to lead King’s Way to its third win of the season in a Boys Division I high school lacrosse defeat of Eastlake, Saturday at Columbia River High School in Vancouver. Goaltender Max Zandstra had 7 saves as King’s Way advanced to 6-1-0. Trevor Olson had 12 saves in goal for 2-5-0 Eastlake.

Bainbridge falls to Oregon’s West Linn in boys lacrosse
WEST LINN, Ore. – Bainbridge Island High School dropped a 9 – 3 decision to West Linn High School in inter-state lacrosse action, Saturday in Oregon. With the loss, the Spartans dropped to 5-6-0 overall and 5-2-0 in Southwest Conference play. The game is the first of two Oregon games this weekend for Bainbridge Island. The Spartans next take-on Portland’s Lincoln Lacrosse Club on Sunday.

Boys Division II

Lake Washington nets 11 over Port Angeles lacrosse
PORT ANGELES, Wash. – Cody and Jake Bernstein each scored 2 goals to help Lake Washington to an 11 – 1 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Port Angeles, Saturday at the Strom King Soccer Fields in Port Angeles. Trevor Watkins, Mitch Meyers and Cooper Ramstead also scored 2 goals to help Lake Washington advance to 7-1-0 overall in first place of the Evergreen Conference. Jacob Dotsie had the lone goal for PA and also grabbed 10 ground balls.

Gibson’s OT goal gives South Kitsap lax win over Liberty
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – Senior David Gibson scored the game winner with 1:43 remaining in overtime to lift South Kitsap to a 9 – 8 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Liberty, Saturday at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Port Orchard. The goal was the third of the night for Gibson who also grabbed 11 ground balls. The win was the second of the season for the 2-4-0 South Kitsap team. Madeline Haugan had 12 saves in net for South Kitsap. Liberty dropped to 1-6-0.

San Juan tops Providence for 5th win in boys lax
FRIDAY HARBOR, Wash. – Friday Harbor seniors Forest Dayton and Ryan Guard each scored 6 goals to lead San Juan to a 17 – 7 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Lynnwood’s Providence Classical Christian School, Saturday at Friday Harbor High School. The win advanced San Juan to 5-1-0 for first place in the Skagit Conference. Providence slipped to 5-4-0 for third place in the Cascade Conference.

BURIEN, Wash. – Junior Issac Simpson connected for 7 goals to lead Highline to a 15 – 14 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Selah, Saturday at Manhattan School Park in Burien.

Three Rivers lacrosse downs Hale to even record
SEATTLE – Drew Wade and Trent Wellner each scored 3 goals to lead Three Rivers to a 10 – 6 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Nathan Hale, Saturday at Seattle’s Summit Fields. With the win, Three Rivers evened their Eastern Conference record to 4-4-0, while Nathan Hale dropped to 3-6-0.

GIG HARBOR, Wash. – Cody Olson and Ricky Chenoweth each scored 3 goals to lift Gig Harbor to a 11 – 4 Boys Division II high school lacrosse win over Mt. Si, Saturday at Peninsula High School. The win was the third of the season of the Olympic Conference third-place Gig Harbor club. Goaltender Matthew Yan had 11 saves as Mt. Si is still winless in its 6 starts this season.

WENATCHEE, Wash. – Heather Dappen scored 3 goals and Sierra Morrison had 8 saves in goal as Wenatchee slipped past Mukilteo 12 – 11, Saturday in Girls Division II high school lacrosse. The win advances Wenatchee to 2-5-0 on the season. Dana Jensen had 4 goals and Megan McGrew had 7 saves as Mukilteo dropped to 3-4-0.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
