Friday’s Mercer Island, Puyallup high school lacrosse matchup voted Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week

SEATTLE – For the third consecutive week, Seattle Times readers have selected a lacrosse matchup as the Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week for April 12 – April 16.

The boys high school game between undefeated Mercer Island (10-0-0 / 5-0-0 in league play) and Puyallup (4-2-0 / 4-2-0 in league play) takes place at 8 p.m., Friday, April 16 at Mercer Island’s Islander Stadium. The game was selected through a Seattle Times online poll presented by AAA Washington’s Varsity News.

The Mercer Island, Puyallup game received 48 percent of the 277 votes cast by the 3 p.m. Friday deadline. Others included baseball matchups between Marysville-Pilchuck and Lake Stevens (19 percent) and Woodinville and Newport (12 percent) along with the Shorecrest vs. Edmonds-Woodway soccer game (15 percent) and Chief Sealth vs. Bainbridge softball game (5 percent).

Boys lacrosse also received top votes for the week of March 22 – April 2 (Vashon vs. Curtis / 49 percent) and April 5 – 9 (Mercer Island vs. Issaquah / 40 percent)

Broadcast highlights of the Seattle Times People’s Choice Game of the Week will be featured in the online Seattle Times High School Sports section (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/highschoolsports/) and on AAA Washington’s Varsity News (www.TheVarsityNews.com), which airs on FSN at 10:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
