Boys Division I

Bellevue lacrosse drops 2OT thriller in Texas
PLANO, Texas — Alpharetta’s Nick Hanchey scored the game winner in the second overtime period to give the Raiders a 7 – 6 Boys Division I high school lacrosse victory over visiting Bellevue High School, Thursday in Plano, Texas. With Alpharata leading 6 – 4 in the fourth, the Wolverines rebounded with two goals to send the game into the first overtime period.

Mukilteo lacrosse downs Stadium
TACOMA, Wash. – Colin Thompson’s hat trick led Mukilteo to an 8 – 4 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Stadium, Thursday at Mason Middle School. Paul Linari had 10 saves in Mukilteo’s third win of the season. Kevin Park had 14 ground balls to lead Stadiums defense.

Crane’s late goal lifts Bainbridge lacrosse past Puyallup
BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. – Junior Alex Crane took a pass from Keagan Ingrasci to score the go-ahead goal with 3:59 remaining as Bainbridge secured an 11 – 10 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Puyallup, Thursday at Bainbridge High School. Crane’s goal gave the junior a season-high 5 scores in the game as the Spartans evened their record at 4-4-0. Brian Carlson had 4 goals and Zach Steedman had 15 saves in goal as Puyallup dropped to 2-2-0 with the loss.

Skyline nets 11 to down Eastlake lacrosse
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Four Skyline players scored 2 goals to lead Skyline to an 11 – 2 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over rival Eastlake, Thursday at Eastlake High School. Max Saffle, Brennen West, Conner Brandt and Spencer Matches put two balls each in the net as Skyline logged its fourth win of the season. Trevor Olson had 20 saves in the nets as Eastlake dropped to 1-4-0 on the season.

Lynwood lacrosse downs Skagit Valley for 5th win
BURLINGTON, Wash. – Alex Tindall scored 5 goals as Lynwood downed Skagit Valley 9 – 7 in Boys Division II high school lacrosse, Thursday at Skagit River Park. Tindall’s goals gave the junior midfielder 19 on the season as Lynwood advanced to 5-1-0 on the season atop the Cascade Conference. Jordan Johnson had 19 saves in Skagit Valley’s fourth loss of the season.

MI girls drop Garfield for 3rd straight lacrosse win
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. – Darah Drucker scored 5 goals and Lauren Ito scored 4 to lift Mercer Island to its third straight win in a 16 – 4 Girls Division I high school lacrosse decision over Garfield, Thursday at Mercer Island High School. The win lifted the Islanders to 4-1-0 on the season. Garfield’s Linnea Whisman had 4 goals and goaltender Barite Dawud had 9 saves as the Bulldogs dropped to 2-3-0 on the season.

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May.
