Boys Division I

Lakeside lax evens record with win at Tacoma
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Max Coyle scored 3 goals as Lakeside evened its record at 2 – 2 with a 10 – 7 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Tacoma, Thursday at Cirque-Bridgeport Park in University Place. Goaltender Nick Canino had 13 saves for the Lions in the win. Connor McLeod had 3 goals and goaltender Givanni Natalizio had 11 saves as Tacoma dropped to 2-3-0 on the season.

Issaquah lacrosse drops Littleton in Colorado
ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Jake Fritz and Todd Jones each scored 5 goals as Issaquah dropped Littleton High School in boys lacrosse action, Thursday in Englewood, Colo. Taking charge of the Lions from the opening draw, Issaquah built a 9 – 1 lead at the half behind the defensive play of Kevin Powers and Kole Lindor. In the second the Eagles attack added another 4 goals to seal the win.

MI lacrosse wins again in New York
SHRUB OAK, N.Y. — Mercer Island logged its second win on its spring-break road swing through New York state, Thursday with an 8 – 6 boys high school lacrosse win over Lakeland/Panas in Shrub Oak, N.Y. The Islanders conclude their New York road trip, Saturday at Guilderland.

Eastside Catholic lax dunks Lake Tapps for first win
SAMMAMISH, Wash. – Ian Duscharme scored a hat trick to lead Eastside Catholic to a 13 – 5 Boys Division I high school lacrosse win over Lake Tapps, Thursday at Eastside Catholic’s Charlie Acosta Field. Michael Rambaldini scored 2 goals and grabbed 11 ground balls as the Crusaders secured their first win of the season. Joshua Davenport had 2 goals and Brandon Simms had 11 saves as Lake Tapps slipped to 0-5-0 on the season.

Prep’s Shanahan nets last-second goal to avert loss
SEATTLE – Seattle Prep captain Kelley Shanahan scored on a free-position shot as time expired to force an 18 – 18 tie with Bellevue High School in Girls Division I high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Seattle’s Lower Woodland Park. The goal was the fourth of the afternoon for Shanahan as Seattle Prep advanced to 3-2-1 on the season. Merrielle Moffatt scored 5 goals and goaltender Ariel Haustveit had 11 saves for the 3-1-1 Wolverines.

Forest Ridge falls Curtis in girls lacrosse
UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – Renee Marpert scored a hat-trick as Forest Ridge beat Curtis 11 – 8 for their first win of the season in Girls Division I high school lacrosse action, Thursday at Curtis High School Stadium. Camilla Gomez had 10 saves in goal for Forest Ridge. Amanda Johnson had 4 goals and Madison Shaw had 14 saves in goal as Curtis slipped to 0-5-0 on the season.

AUBURN, Wash. — Alena Pilichowsk scored 4 goals to lead Lakeside past Auburn Mountainview 14 – 4 for its 5th Girls Division II high school lacrosse win, Thursday at Auburn Mountainview High School. Hannah Morse had 3 goals as Auburn Mountainview dropped to 3-3-0 on the season.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in six of the last eight years. In 2010, over 2,700 high school students representing 83 boys (www.WHSBLA.org) and 55 girls (www.WSLAX.org) varsity and jv teams in eastern and western Washington compete in a nine-week season March – May. The annual Boys and Girls Washington State High School Championships take place in late May.
