Curtis senior named to Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Team

SEATTLE – Curtis High School senior Landon Carr has been named to the 2009 Under Armour® All-America Lacrosse Team ( He is the first high school lacrosse player from Washington state to be recognized with the national honor.

The Under Armour® All-America team is comprised of the top 90 high school senior boys and girls lacrosse players in the U.S. The team is selected by a committee of the nation’s most knowledgeable figures in high school lacrosse assembled by Inside Lacrosse Magazine. Carr is among three student-athletes from western states to be selected in 2009 and just the 14th from the west coast to be selected in the game’s four-year history.

Carr, who plays midfield for the Vikings, is the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association Division I leader in points with 59 (35 goals, 24 assists) and ranks 7th in the league in ground balls with 58 as of May 6. As a midfielder, he was a first-team All-State selection in 2008 and second team selection in 2007. He has signed a letter of intent to play NCAA Division I lacrosse at the University of Maryland.

The 2009 Under Armour® All-America Team will compete in separate boys and girls North vs. South all-star games, June 27 at Towson University’s Johnny Unitas Stadium near Baltimore, Maryland. Carr will play for the South team.

The boys game will be broadcast live at 5 p.m. PT, Saturday, June 27 on ESPNU.

About High School Lacrosse in Washington State
Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the U.S. and in Washington State the sport has seen double-digit growth in five of the last seven years. In 2009, over 2,370 high school students representing 75 boys and 49 girls varsity and junior varsity teams in Washington state will compete in a nine-week season March – May with the annual Washington State High School Championships taking place May 16 (girls) and May 30 (boys). Varsity boys lacrosse is contested in the Washington High School Boys Lacrosse Association ( with 14 Division I and 28 Division II teams. Varsity girls lacrosse is contested in The Washington Schoolgirls Lacrosse Association ( with 15 Division I and 16 Division II teams.
