Stadium edges Port Angeles in boys lacrosse

April 11, 2009

PORT ANGELES, Wash. – Carter Chaffey and Martin Park each scored two goals as Stadium edged Port Angeles 7 – 6 in Boys Division II high school lacrosse, Saturday, at Hunt Middle School in Port Angeles, Wash.

After falling behind Port Angeles 2 – 1 in the first quarter, Stadium connected for four of its own in the second to take a 5 – 4 lead into the intermission.

PA evened the game at five in the third quarter before Stadium pulled ahead for good on a Dave Derouin goal.

In the final two minutes, a pestering Port Angeles defense regained control of the ball. In the following drive, Stadium goaltender Drew Thomas was slapped with an illegal hit and forced to sit out the remainder of the game.

Down a man in the final 47 seconds, Stadium thwarted a final PA attack as replacement goaltender Kevin Park turned away a blistering shot to preserve the win. Thomas (3-2-0) had eight saves in 47 minutes in goal. Park had one save in goal and collected 12 ground balls in the field.

With the win, Stadium advanced to 3-2-0 on the season, while PA dropped to 2-5-0.
